Bodenschutz bei Strassenbauprojekten in Europa

Road construction has considerable negative impacts on soils.

This project will

i) develop prescriptive methodologies for assessing and quantifying the impacts of national road projects on soils, and

ii) outline practical mitigation measures to offset and minimise these impacts.

The research involves an evaluation of current practices in operation across Europe in relation to assessing the impacts on soils and mitigation measures with documented case histories of best practice.

WSL is responsible for

i) a comprehensive literature and best practice review, and

ii) an expert survey and workshops to identify best practices for soil protection.

The aim is to detect and evaluate innovative soil protection strategies for application in road construction projects all over Europe. The consortium consists of NiBio (Norway), SLU (Sweden) and WSL.
