This project contributes to the Blue-Green Biodiversity Research Initiative – an Eawag-WSL collaboration focusing on Biodiversity at the interface of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
Insects are among the most successful invasive species but there are surprisingly few aquatic insects that invaded freshwater ecosystems outside their native range. In this project we are analysing several international datasets to compare the proportions of invasive species among aquatic and terrestrial species in several taxa and to test hypotheses why aquatic insects are underrepresented among successful invaders.
