Distinct rings, ring porous, vessels 60-100 µm in diameter, vessels solitary, simple perforations, vessels thick-walled, pits scalariform or round in opposite position, fibers absent, parenchyma pervasive, rays absent, included layers of periderm, consisting on one layer of phelloderm and a few layers of phellem (cork). With many muscilage ducts containing slime and raphides.
