Morphology H, 10 - 40cm Ecology hill and mountain Chorology SE-European, SW-Asia Xylem Distinct to indistinct rings, diffuse porous, vessels in groups in radial multiples arranged in tangential layers, simple perforations, round intervessel pits, intervessel pits alternate, vessel diameter 50-90 µm, parenchyma paratracheal and in large tangential bands alternating with fiber bands, ray width 3-6 cells, homocellular with square and upright cells, near pith with indistinct muscilage cells. Xylem-Code Phloem Sclereids in tangentially arranged square groups, with ray dilatations, with many crystal druses in rays, with a few mucilage ducts.
