Morphology H, 10-20cm Ecology Mountain and subalpine, medium site Chorology Western North America Xylem Indistinct rings, semi-ring porous, vessels solitary and in small groups, vessel diameter 20 ¿ 50µm, vessel frequency 100-200 mm2, vessel frequency 200-500 mm2, simple perforations, gash-like vessel- pits thin walled fibers in local, tangential small bands , pervasive parenchyma, rays mostly uniseriate, with a few with 3-4 cells, rays with exclusively upright cells.
