No secondary growth, rings absent, vessels in groups, vessel diameter <20 mµ, fibers absent, simple perforations, intervascular pits scalariform and round, pervasive parenchyma, rayless, sieve cell groups stay irregularly in the central cylinder (included phloem) sieve cell and vessel groups do not form distinct vascular bundles. Crystals absent.
