Xylem

Conifer like wood but with large rays. Distinct ring boundaries, vessels absent, tracheids with big round bordered pits and scalariform bordered pits. Parenchyma very rare and not to recognize in the cross-section. Uniseriate and multiseriate (3 to 6 cells in width) heterocellular rays with 1 to 3 square and upright marginal cells. Crystals absent.

Phloem

Phloem simple structured. Sieve cells collapse in older parts of the phloem. Distinct ray dilatations and a belt of sclereids in the cortex.
