No secondary growth but intervascular cambium present, single vascular bundles around the star-like pith, , rings absent, vessels in groups, vessel diameter 20-30mµ, (3mµ), fibers absent, simple perforations, round and scalariform bordered intervascular pits, pervasive parenchyma, vascular bundles rayless, very large rays (extrusions from the pith) between the bundles. Some individuals with medullary sieve-cell groups.
