This project contributes to the Blue-Green Biodiversity Research Initiative – an Eawag-WSL collaboration focusing on Biodiversity at the interface of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
Using upfront text retrieval methods, we will use readily available digitized parliamentary texts, laws and court ruling documents to answer the following questions:
- What are suitable indicators to assess (1) the parliamentary debate on biodiversity and (2) the goals of the resulting biodiversity-related laws (driver indicators )?
- What are suitable indicators to measure law enforcement at all levels of administrative and court decision making (response indicators)?
- How can the above driver and response indicators be combined to assess and quantify performance of the biodiversity policy in Switzerland? - What actors and institutional contexts influence performance of the planning policies?
- Is there a difference in performance between aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity policies?
