Travel information

EDF 2025 will take place in the MónNatura Pirineus, which is located in the town of Son (Alt Àneu) in the Pallars Sobirà region (Catalonia, Spain).

Due to its remote location, please read carefully the following instructions.

When arriving by plane

The easiest way to reach the venue by plane is to fly directly to Barcelona Airport. Please avoid flying into other airports, such as Girona or Reus, as there will be no convenient connections to the venue.

There are plenty of options to travel from the airport to Barcelona city, including the regional train, subway, or bus.

IMPORTANT:

To travel from Barcelona city to the venue, there are two options:

  1. Organized bus: Since the venue is quite remote, we have arranged a bus to transport EDF participants from Barcelona city to the event venue. The journey will take approximately 4 to 4.5 hours. The bus is scheduled to depart on the afternoon of August 29 (exact timing will be informed after registration) from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Barcelona. (Carrer Martí i Franquès 11, Barcelona, coordinates: 41.384799, 2.118437). It is located next to the "Palau Reial" subway station. This will be the easiest and most convenient option for participants traveling between Barcelona and the EDF venue.
On the return journey, another bus will transport participants from the EDF venue back to the Faculty of Biology at the University of Barcelona (Carrer Martí i Franquès 11, Barcelona). This will be scheduled for the morning of September 5 (exact timing will be informed after registration). The bus service is free of charge.
  2. Public bus: Alternatively, participants can travel partway by public bus, operated by the company ALSA. There is only one bus per day, departing early in the morning from Barcelona's Estació del Nord bus station and arriving in Esterri d’Àneu (7 km from the venue) around noon. Please check the exact schedules on the ALSA website. If you prefer this option, we request to kindly inform us in advance so we can arrange pick-up transportation in Esterri d’Àneu. For those more adventurous, there is a nice 7-km hike from Esterri d’Àneu to the EDF venue ;)

When arriving by car

To reach Son from Barcelona, take the A-2 motorway towards Lleida, exiting at L-303 to Agramunt and continuing to Artesa de Segre. From there, follow the L-512 to Tremp, then join the N-260 towards Sort, then take the C-13 toward Esterri d’Àneu. Shortly before Esterri d’Àneu, look for signs directing you to Son, which is approximately 7 km away.
