Since October 2019, the research vessel “Polarstern” has been drifting through the Arctic ice. A video shows what is happening around the ship.
A camera on the vessel "Polarstern" has taken pictures of the surroundings between 5 and 21 October 2019. In time-lapse you can see how the researchers of the MOSAiC expedition swarm around in their red expedition suits, how measuring installations are created and how cracks in the ice open up and close again. In the beginning there is still daylight, but from day to day it gets darker until only the ship's headlights appear and disappear on the ice.
