Integrating biodiversity standards into municipal land-use regulations
Project duration
2023 - 2025
FinancingThis project contributes to the Blue-Green Biodiversity Research Initiative – an Eawag-WSL collaboration focusing on Biodiversity at the interface of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
Land-use is one of the biggest drivers of biodiversity loss. Spatial planning at the municipal level is therefore key to promoting biodiversity and preserving ecosystem services. In this project, we examine the process of land-use plan revision and use case studies to analyse whether and how municipalities integrate biodiversity-friendly standards into building and zoning regulations.
