TreeMig

Spatio-temporal vegetation dynamics, including the migration of plant species, play an important role in the dynamics of species distributions, carbon sequestration, climate-biosphere feedbacks and biodiversity under climate change. To estimate future vegetation dynamics, spatio-temporal vegetation models on a medium to large scale, which simulate the migration of plants among other things, are essential.

One such model is the TreeMig forest landscape model. In addition to local forest dynamics, it also includes spatial interactions and thus enables the simulation of forest dynamics and tree species migration for various applications, from stands to continents. Experienced modelers as well as modelling novices can easily use the model thanks to the new R package and a graphical user interface.
