Research interests

Computer vision: image segmentation of vegetation data, historic maps, performance evaluation of segmentation methods

Feature extraction: non-rigid shape matching with custom models, model-based fitting in point clouds (LiDAR,TLS)

Classification: audio signals of bat species, landcover types

Stereo matching: evaluation and optimization of matching methods

Grouping: converting sampled point data to connected vegetation areas (alfa shapes, triangulation)

Software development: faster, robuster processing with C++, GPU with CUDA,OpenCL

Projects

We aim at providing the link between the belowground water regime, related to the triggering of shallow landslides, and aboveground structural properties of forests as well as between ground truth and remote sensing data in view of up-scaling from the local to the regional and supra-regional scale.
