CoopérationHow do forests respond to changes in water availability and vapour pressure deficit (VPD)? The FOREST-RESIST project dives deep below the surface to map and monitor the unseen processes shaping forest ecosystems under different drought treatments. In collaboration with the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of ETHZ, we use 4D electrical resistivity imaging to capture the dynamic flow of water and root water uptake. By combining daily active resistivity measurements with innovative sensor networks at the Pfynwald research platform, FOREST-RESIST reveals the vital below-ground processes that sustain our forests.
