Since its foundation in 1885, the WSL has been intensively engaged in growth and yield research. The long-term data collected over more than 130 years on the extensive experimental yield network are still of great importance today for the investigation of yield and growth. They have proved to be very valuable for many WSL projects in connection with modelling, remote sensing, soil investigations, forest functions and climate change and are of interest to researchers worldwide.

The archived growth and yield information comprises over 130 metres of files, field books, pictures, plans and maps, which are archived and protected from long-term decay using standard conservation measures. In future, it will be possible to consult and research the archived material via an online catalogue.
