Transversal section |

Diffuse- to semi-ring-porous. Pores widely spaced in dendritic, radially orientated multiples. Wide pores occasionally surrounded by smaller, thick-walled ground tissue-like pores and vascular tracheids. Growth ring boundaries generally distinct in wide growth rings, indistinct in narrow growth rings. Parenchyma apotracheal, relatively abundant, generally in uni- to multiseriate, more or less continuous tangential bands, often also in uniseriate terminal parenchyma bands. |
